Translations

Ren Powell has worked as a literary translator, “gjendikting” (re-poeming) since 1996. She has translated more than two dozen book-length publications of prose and poetry for various publishers in Norway.

It is a privilege to try to present writers to new audiences.

Contemporary poets she has worked with include Nils Christian Moe-Repstad, Jon Fosse, Jan Eirik Vold,  Odveig Klyve, Tor Obrestad, Kolbein Falkeid, Helge TorvundGunnar Roalkvam, Finn Øglænd, and Mansur Rajih.

Ren Powell has also translated plays and performing texts, including the stage version of Kitchen Stories (Salmer fra kjøkkenet), and the performance text for Janne-Camilla Lyster‘s Bird and Bead.

Ren takes on projects that are creatively challenging or provide opportunities for collaboration.

Ren also does voice-over work in English, though no longer does industrial recordings for the oil industry.
